The Finnish foundry sand regeneration and recycling technology specialist Resand Ltd has signed a long-term cooperation agreement with the German TechnoGuss GmbH foundry. The ‘Sand As A Service’ (SAAS) agreement between the two firms was finalized in December 2024. Resand will provide TechnoGuss with an electrically driven sand reclaimer, which is designed to process an estimated annual volume of approximately 5,000 tons of reclaimed sand. The service will significantly increase the recycling rate of the sand used at the TechnoGuss foundry.
Resand’s SAAS package offers substantial environmental and financial benefits to foundries, such as TechnoGuss. The service reduces the purchase of virgin sand for foundries and limits the disposal of used sand while decreasing transportation and energy costs. Since the regeneration and recycling of used sand is offered as a service, SAAS also lowers the capital tied up in foundry operations.
Resand's electric sand reclaimer is specially designed for medium-sized foundries. The tool recovers approximately 1,000 kg of sand per hour. The sand reclaimer’s electrically heated drive makes it very easy to connect the device to the foundry’s mains, which means that clean sand is always available at the foundry.
