Follow-up order from European commercial vehicle manufacturer

Auto-component supplier KSPG AG, a member of the Rheinmetall Group, has been awarded by a notable commercial vehicle manufacturer a follow-up order to supply its newest-generation steel piston assemblies. The contract which will run until 2019, is worth a total €150 million. Series production start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.

The contract comprises the entire piston assembly consisting of pistons, piston pins, retaining rings, piston rings, and cylinders (liners). This contract once again emphasizes the KSPG subsidiary KS Kolbenschmidt's competence as a foremost supplier of complete piston assemblies.

The units are destined for commercial vehicle engines manufactured to the latest Euro 6 emission standard and feature a fuel-saving Fuel Consumption Package. The piston assemblies are being installed in the 13 and 11 Liter engines of the OEM. The vehicles are intended for operation in Europe and NAFTA.

Shipments will be according to the principle "local for local," with the pistons for the customer's European plants being made in Neckarsulm while the North American locations are being supplied from Kolbenschmidt de Mexico. This arrangement also allows flexible coordinated response to short-notice requirement fluctuations.
