Germany's second largest steelmaker Salzgitter AG announced that it has raised steel prices by around EUR 80 per tonne for the second quarter amid strong demand for steel products.

Mr Wolfgang Leese CEO of Salzgitter in an interview with Reuters said that there is scope for another round of increases for the third quarter as rising raw material prices are likely to cause an increase in production costs.
