Slowdown signs - New foreign car sales in Ukraine dips

It is reported that sales of new foreign cars in Ukraine in January to July 2009 fell by almost four times YoY, to 74,365 cars. Along with this in July car sales fell by 79% compared to July 2008, but grew by over 10% compared to June 2009, to 10,394 cars.

The company analysts said "We can say that the foreign car market has stabilized at a level of about 10,000 cars a month which is 4 times to 5 times down compared to the period before crisis." Hyundai was the leader in sales in July due to continuing marketing programs and Chevrolet ranked second increasing sales by almost two times due to a decrease in prices for all models, to 1,015 cars.

Chery ranked third and Kia fourth, Skoda, Renault and Toyota ranked fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. Volkswagen and Nissan were eighth and ninth respectively selling about 500 cars in July. The sales of SsangYong grew by three times, to 201 cars. Sales in the premium segment in July fell by 7.6% and numbered 473 cars.
