Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa Dismisses Petition from Lauds Foundry Equipment

Reading time: min

Sources have confirmed that after much back-and-forth between Omega Foundry Machinery Ltd. and Lauds Foundry Equipment, on December 19, 2018, the Supreme Court of Appeals in South African dismissed the petition by Lauds Foundry Equipment to appeal the original ruling of copyright infringement of Omega’s machinery on March 31, 2016.

In 2016, the court ordered that Lauds Foundry Equipment was not allowed to infringe on Omega Foundry Machinery’s copyright, was not allowed to compete unlawfully against Omega, and was not allowed to pass any of Omega’s work as their own as a result of Omega Foundry Machinery Ltd. accusing Lauds Foundry Equipment for allegedly infringing on the company’s copyright.
