Bridging the Gap Between Scientific Insight and Industrial Practice
The award serves as an established platform for showcasing forward-thinking ideas and research findings that drive technological advancement. “Our aim is to accelerate the transfer of scientific insights into industrial practice, spark new impulses, and provide a stage for young talent. The Gustav Eirich Award supports the potential of young academics whose work enhances the innovative strength of the industry and shapes future developments. In a rapidly changing world, seamless knowledge transfer between academic research and industrial application is essential,” says Stephan Eirich, Managing Director.
The award is organized in partnership with ECREF – the European Centre for Refractories, the research institution of the German Refractories Association (Verband der Deutschen Feuerfest-Industrie e.V.). A jury of independent experts from academia and industry in Germany, France, Austria, Poland, Spain, and the USA will evaluate the submissions. The best entries will be awarded monetary prizes of €3,000, €2,000, and €1,000.
The award ceremony will take place during the International Colloquium on Refractories (ICR) on 17–18 September 2025 in Aachen.
