The Second International Conference "Aluminium Casting"

In the period of April 1-3, 2009 the leading foundries, research and development centres from Russia, Europe and North America gathered in Moscow to participate in one of the most important events of the aluminium industry - the International Conference and Exhibition "Aluminium Casting". This Forum was organized by  Alusil MVT and sponsored by the world leading manufacturers of the aluminium casting equipment -  Hertwich Engineering GmbH (Austria) и Wagstaff Inc. (USA).

The Conference gathered 72 representatives of 48 companies from 13 countries, including Austria, Belgium,  France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Canada, the Netheralnds, Russia, Switzerland, UK, Ukraine, USA. They summed up the recent two years experince and noted the main trends of the aluminium casting industry. The students of one of the leading technological universities of Russia - the National Research Technological University Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys - also took part in the conference. State-of-the-art equipment, technologies and materials for aluminium casting, heating and control systems were presented at the exhibition, organized within the framework of the Conference. The following companies took part in the exhibition: Wagstaff Inc. (USA), Hetwich Engineering GmbH (Austria), National Institute of Aviation Technologies (Russia) и Kurtz GmbH (Germany), Atherm (France), Advanced Alloys S. A. (Switzerland). The conference focused on the newest achievements in innovation casting technologies, equipment modernization, electromagnetic treatment processes, melt control and refinement during casting, that are aimed at the increasing of the quality and production efficiency, that is becoming very significant on the eve of the period of industrial post-crisis modernization. 29 papers of the Russian and foreign experts simultaneously translated into English and Russian were presented at the Conference.

On the final day of the Conference the participants visited the Department of Casting Processes Technology of one of the leading technological universities of Russia - the National Research Technological University "Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys". They attented a number of specialized laboratories for sand mould melting and casting, special casting, metallography, computer modelling of casting processes, rapid prototyping of cast parts, models and moulds, and also a centre of multiaccess.
