Toyota Indonesian CBU cars export up by 51pct YoY in Sept

The Jakarta Post reported that one of the largest car producers in the country, Toyota Indonesia, managed to raise its export on completely built up cars by 51% to 3,987 units as of September 2010 from 2,633 units in the same period of 2009.

The highest sales for export was booked by Avanza minivan with 1,598 units, followed by Fortuner sport utility vehicle with 1,303 units, Kijang Innova multi purpose vehicle with 1,007 units and Rush sport utility vehicle with 79 units.

Mr Irwan Priyantoko chief external affairs of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia said that "We have sent Fortuner for Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Syria, Oman and Kuwait markets since August. Therefore, we managed to gain a significant sales increase."

He added that the company has enjoyed a 22% increase in export sales to 28,065 units as of third quarter of 2010, from 22,984 units in the same period of 2009.

Mr Irwan said that Toyota Indonesia has targeted to sell a total of 47,000 units by end of 2010, an increase from 31,000 units in 2009.
