Turkish Bandirma province to host wind turbine facility

Hurriyet Daily reported that construction of the GESBEY wind tower factory which will produce wind energy turbines has started in Bandirma in the western province of Balikesir. The final total investment may rise to EUR 30 million.

The factory will be built with cooperation between Turkey’s Faik Çelik Holding and Spain’s Gestamp Wind Steel.

According to a written statement from Faik Çelik Holding, the 47,000 square meter factory in Bandirma’s organized industrial zone will be able to produce more than 450 wind turbines annually. The factory is expected to provide employment for 300 people and will start operating by the end of this year.

Wind turbines produced at the facility will be exported to countries that have recently shown an improvement in the wind energy market such as Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, as well as will be installed in the domestic market.

Gestamp Wind Steel also has facilities producing wind turbines in Spain and Brazil. The company has investment projects in South America, India and China.
