UK - 66 jobs going at Castings factory

<font size="2">A Black Country supplier to the automotive industry is set to shed 66 jobs, according to a union official.</font>

<font size="2"><a href=";tx_hrtdictionary_pi1[showUid]=1396" target="_top">Castings</a> PLC, which employs 400 at its Brownhills HQ, has announced it will make redundancies.</font>

<font size="2">The announcement comes after the company, based in Lichfield Road, completed a 30-day consultation process with its unions.</font>

<font size="2">Dave Corbett, GMB Works Convenor at <a href=";tx_hrtdictionary_pi1[showUid]=1396" target="_top">Castings</a> Ltd, said it was a blow to the workers at the company. </font>

<font size="2">He said: “They have announced 66 redundancies. It’s due to the economic situation. Work’s on the downturn at the moment and doesn’t appear to be picking up any time soon.</font>

<font size="2">“We are in talks with the company in an effort to save any more jobs.”</font>

<font size="2">Last month David Gawthorpe, chief executive at <a href=";tx_hrtdictionary_pi1[showUid]=1396" target="_top">Castings</a> PLC, told that the firm was feeling the affects of a downturn in the car industry and the current economic climate.</font>
