Castle Fine Arts Foundry has been named the best small business in Wales in the British Small Business Champions 2008 awards.

Started in 1990, it is classed as one of the UK’s leading bronze casting foundries and employs 30 people at three branches in Oswestry, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in mid Wales and Gloucestershire.

It has produced and installed sculpture all over the world.

One scheme was for the Armed Forces Memorial project in Alrewas, Staffordshire last year.

Castle staff worked with UK based sculptor Ian Rank Broadley to produce the bronze sculptures which were installed into the memorial and unveiled by The Queen.

Managing director Chris Butler said: “The whole team has worked so hard to build our reputation. This award recognises this and that this is a small business doing big things.”

Castle Fine Arts Foundry won £1,000 to be spent on the business.
