Stemcor, the world’s largest independent steel trader, has appointed Julian Verden as Chief Executive Officer with effect from January 1st 2013. Verden has three decades of experience in the steel industry. In 1978 he started with Samac, a steel trading and distribution company that Stemcor acquired in 1998. He is a past chairman of the International Steel Trade Association. He was appointed Group Managing Director of Stemcor Holdings in 2000 and has since been responsible for much of the Group’s distribution, stockholding and service centre businesses.
