Plymouth-based Metaldyne Corp. plans to sell or close a machining plant in Middleville and a die casting operation in Niles, Ill.
The automotive supplier of metal components and systems said the divestitures are part of a company cost-cutting effort. The plants produced products that were no longer part of the company’s core portfolio.
The company did not specify a closure or sale date.
The plants will be listed as discontinued operations, beginning with Metaldyne’s second-quarter 2008 earnings statement.
