HARTFORD - One of Washington County's largest employers and most successful companies has a new owner.
Signicast Corp., with facilities in the Dodge Industrial Park at 1800 Innovation Way as well as in Brown Deer, has been purchased by The Pritzker Group, a company with offices in Evanston, Ill. and Los Angeles that specializes in acquiring companies with proven track records in manufacturing and high-tech operations.
Signicast, founded in Milwau-kee in 1959, first came to Hartford in 1993 and has continued to grow and prosper. It now has more than 650 employees. The firm specializes in metal castings in all shapes and sizes and has domestic and international clients.
Signicast President Terry Lutz said the acquisition represents a "win-win situation" for the company, its employees and the Hartford community.
"We had a number of offers, but I was looking for a buyer who was willing to make a long-term investment and who would commit to carrying on the Signicast tradition of great products where the customer comes first, having a highly trained work force and being a good corporate citizen," Lutz said. "They have agreed to keep the management team that we have here intact and that they won't change the way we do business. Signicast has been my life and I want to see it continue to grow and prosper."
