NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - Northern Indiana police say a foundry worker died over the weekend when an industrial <link http: www.foundry-planet.com _top external-link-new-window>furnace fell on him as he was working on it.
Twenty-four-year-old worker died Saturday morning at the Manchester Metals <link http: www.foundry-planet.com _top external-link-new-window>foundry about 30 miles west of Fort Wayne.
He was working on the furnace's hydraulic system when it fell, pinning him. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to free the worker, who was later pronounced dead.
Another worker was also caught under the <link http: www.foundry-planet.com _top external-link-new-window>furnace, but workers were able to free him before firefighters arrived. That worker was slightly injured.
