57th Annual International Foundry Conference in Portoroz, Slovenia

It´s a Gift to meet Colleagues and Friends in Portoroz each Year

Lesedauer: min

“Year for year, we greet more attendees and exhibitors at the International Foundry Conference in Portoroz, Slovenia”, announced President of the Slovenian Foundrymen Society, Mrs. Mirjam Jan-Blazik, MSc, together with Alojz Krizman, Prof. PhD.

Last week, for the 57th time, a range of international experts gathered from Balkan Countries, Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, and others to witness Prof. Dr.-Ing. Reinhard Döpp being appointed as honorary member of the Slovenian Foundrymen Society.

Attendees heard ambitious contributions about the European foundry industry and the challenges the industry will face in the future, including the long-term changes being brought about in the automotive industry. Finding E-drive solutions in casting technology as well as answers for the continued existence of small and middle size foundries in an environment of overcapacities and uncertainty were important themes.

But there is no reason for fear or doubt when the foundry industry has the capability to present and signalize its achievements effectively.

Ideas and innovations come from the shop-floor; casting processes are able to provide composite castings, hybrid constructions, and the engineers attend the OEM´s in the new fields of e-mobility.

That means we have to acknowledge and accept that we need to be prepared for new tasks, and solve them in a different way as before.

For a long time, it was normal to adhere to the idea of “Never change a running system”.

Now it is: “Always run a changing system!”.
