A new VX1000 for Schmolz + Bickenbach

Lesedauer: min

The Schmolz + Bickenbach Guss Gruppe is a market and quality leader in the area of special steel casting in Europe. The company offers special cast steel and cast steel solutions with unit weights ranging from 30 grams to 20 tonnes. Its core competencies consist of the provision of advisory services, development, material know-how, state-of-the-art casting technology and flexibility with respect to production depth.

Schmolz + Bickenbach have already been taking advantage of the benefits offered by 3D printing technology for some time. However, until now the company has always had its precision casting moulds printed at the voxeljet service centre on demand. Now the company is investing in its own 3D printer. Continuously increasing order volumes have made the purchase of the new VX1000 large-format printer a profitable investment.

"With the new VX1000, we will now be able to print components ranging from 1060 x 600 x 500 mm and a maximum unit weight of 70 kg right here at our precision foundry. By choosing a large-format printer, we will be able to print a large number of individual components in one job, as we will also use the machine for the series production of components with complex geometries. This process is particularly cost-effective because there are no tool costs," says Schmolz + Bickenbach CEO Andreas Höller.

Another advantage: Thanks to the large build space of the VX1000, there are almost no limitations for the production of large dimensional models. In addition, the VX1000 is also the first choice of architects, artists and designers for the rapid and precise manufacture of design and functional models.
