Iran Khodro a giant Iranian automaker plans to invest USD 20 million in setting up a car-making factory in Afghanistan. The report said that managers of Hamgam Company, a subsidiary of Iran Khodro have earlier met with Afghan officials in the field. Given the problems facing the country in importing cars, Afghans welcomed the move and evaluated the risk for the investment as low. Import of second-hand sedans has transformed the country into a graveyard of used cars, which has created environmental problems for the country. The Iranian delegation and Afghanistan's Chamber of Industries agreed upon establishment of a car manufacturing factory in Heart.
