It is reported that during the first five months this year, cumulative sales of Geely automobiles increased by only 2.3%YoY to 188,000 units while BYD’s car sales dropped 11.6% to 176,800 units.
Many domestic car manufacturing brands said during the Auto Expo that the growth rate of auto sales and production dropped sharply in the first half of the year, except for a few brands such as Great Wall with some seeing negative growth.
In sharp contrast, the sales of foreign-brand passenger cars, including Japanese, German, American, French and Korean brands, saw higher rates than the same period last year. The sales of German autos grew nearly 20% while those of Japanese vehicles grew more than 10%. The growth rate of foreign brands from other nations increases by less than 10%.
