Chinese mould and die exports jump 24% in first-half

Local and international demand for tooling expected to support industry exhibition.

The China Die & Mould Industry Association has announced that in the first half year of 2012, exports of moulds and dies from the People's Republic surged nearly one-quarter to $1.7 billion following $3 billion in total exports last year. In 2011, China’s die and mould sales reached some $28 billion, the association said, adding that imports totalled $2.2 billion.

The association, which organises the China International Exhibition on Die & Mould, Material Processing and Forming Industry (Die & Mould China) with Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd, said the next show will be held June 18-21, 2013, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. The exhibition, which the hosts said serves as a platform for exchanging information, equipment purchasing, and exploring the market, is expected to mirror the rising demand for Chinese-made dies and moulds. “With the needs of domestic market and price advantage in the world market, we estimate that the Chinese die and mould industry will continue its rapid growth in the future,” the association predicted, adding that increasing demand pressure on domestic shops will boost their equipment requirements. “This will stimulate the need for machine tools, computer software and advanced supplements,” it explained.
