The Harrison Steel Castings Co., Attica, Ind., announced it has entered into a voluntary Energy Star partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to better utilize energy.
In addition to joining Energy Star, a program that is co-facilitiated for the metalcasting industry by the American Foundry Society, Harrison announced it is now offering capacity in its pattern and machine shops to outside customers.
According to a press release issued by Harrison, the partnership with EPA represents a commitment to protect the environment. According to the terms of the partnership, the company will work to improve energy efficiency. Harrison believes a corporate energy management program will help enhance its financial health, as well as aiding in preserving the environment.
“Harrison is striving to achieve better energy utilization,” said Robert Harrison, vice president of finance and treasurer. “The partnership gives us the ability to benchmark performance, share ideas and try new things.”
In partnership with Energy Star, Harrison Steel will measure and track the energy performance of its organization’s facilities, develop and implement a plan consistent with the Energy Star Energy Management Guidelines published by EPA to achieve energy savings, promote the importance of energy efficiency to its staff and community, support the Energy Star Challenge, a national call-to-action to help improve the energy efficiency of America’s commercial and industrial buildings by 10% or more, and highlight its achievements with recognition offered through Energy Star.
