Projects Today reported that Ford India intends to bring its small car on the road by 2010. Currently, around 300 prototypes of the small car are on the road for testing. The small car is expected to have a localization of around 85% from the start to production stage. The car predominantly designed for the Indian market will have petrol and diesel engine options.
Till now, Ford has invested around USD 900 million in the country. This includes USD 500 million for the new engine plant, the small car project and ramping up of the vehicle assembling capacity from 0.1 million units to 0.2 million units.
