India - Hindujas to set up 4th foundry with Rs 150 cr outlay

Hinduja <link _top>Foundries Ltd, on 30.October, laid the foundation stone for their fourth <link _top>foundry unit in the country slated to come up at Toopran with an outlay of Rs 150 crore.

With two plants in Tamil Nadu, the one at IDA Uppal near Hyderabad and the new greenfield one will take the overall capacity to about 2,25,000 tpa (tonnes per annum), for the company which is part of the diversified Hinduja Group. The Managing Director of Hinduja <link _top>Foundries, Mr V. Mahadevan, said this project will cater to engine blocks and heads for car manufacturers in India and abroad while supporting requirements for commercial vehicle segment and tractors.

Coming up on a 60-acre site, this project (to be completed in two phases) will have a capacity of 85,000 tpa, and employ about 500 people directly and another 1,000 indirectly. The first phase of the project is to be ready by 2010-11 and have a production capacity of 48,000 tpa. To support training requirements for the <link _top>foundry, the Hinduja group firm is establishing a training centre with an investment of Rs 7 crore.
