India - JBC to set up Aluminium pressure die casting plant

JBC - Jamnagar Brass Components - plans to set up a new plant to manufacture <link _top>aluminum pressure die-casting items, a delicate automobile spare. The plant will be will set up in collaboration with ASK Systems of USA  and will involve an investment of Rs 23 crore. Company will make high end carburetor parts, <link _top>castings and light engineering components for defense application as well.

The plant is to come up on 6 acres near Metoda Gujraat. Shri Prafull Shah, managing director, said that the plant would provide job opportunities to about 700 artisans/technicians and cater to major automotive companies of India and Europe. He said that work on the project would commence in another 8 months and the plant would be commissioned by mid 2008-09.

JBC registered a turnover of Rs 90 crore and a profit, before tax, of Rs 8  crore for the year 2006-07. The company currently has an employee strength of about 245 people, said mr. Shah.

The company aims to touch Rs 170 crore by the year 2010. It has projected a turnover of Rs 110  crore for the current fiscal.

Shah said that the company exported its products to countries including Thailand, Japan, China, Italy, France and the US - contributing Rs 75 crore to the business. The company has also started exporting compound auto parts in the last few months.
