Over 12,500 visitors from 42 countries and regions attended Asiamold held at the Poly World Trade Centre Expo from 15 – 17 September 2010. This was a 20% increase in the visitor numbers from 2009.

The top 10 countries and regions by visitor volume were China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States, Germany, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Korea.

The fourth edition of the fair – sister event to EuroMold – received 11,199 domestic visitors and 1,302 international visitors, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 21% and 6% respectively.

Showing at the fair were 310 suppliers from 15 countries and regions, covering two halls in a total exhibition area of 20,000sqm. The exhibitor number was up 10% on last year.

Good business resulted in high satisfaction among exhibitors and visitors

Exhibitors and visitors commended the professionalism of Asiamold and, importantly, how it has delivered an exceptional platform in which to do business – making new contacts, catching up with existing customers and finding out about the latest industry news and trends.

Good View Industrial Company Limited returned to increase the visibility of their brand. “The event has grown and become more international in scope. We’ve seen a higher degree of targeted end-user groups and made contact with five to six potential new customers,” noted Mr Kenneth Tsoi, Marketing Manager.

“Asiamold attracts thousands of relevant visitors from all over the world and many of the exhibitors at the fair are our targeted buyers too. This is an effective platform for us to obtain business and improve our brand recognition,” said Mr Ken Kong, Sales and Marketing Manager of Assab Steels (HK) Ltd, a raw materials supplier that exhibited at the fair like Good View to raise their brand profile.

Second time round proved to be equally satisfying for hot runner manufacturer Mold-Masters (KunShan) Co Ltd. Ms Connie Cao, Marketing Specialist explained: “Having done well last year, we returned with a bigger stand. Business has been good, we’ve spent quality time with new and old customers and obtained a greater understanding of their usage needs. We highly value the face-to-face communication opportunity the fair offered us.”

New exhibitor KK Mold (Shenzhen) Co Ltd was impressed with the opportunities available at the fair. Mr Jason Huang, President, expressed, “Asiamold has a good reputation among my customers and colleagues who have visited the fair in the past. Coming here, we’ve discovered a very good platform to meet with old and new clients. The visitor profile is exactly what we’re looking for. We’ll definitely come back next year.”

Another new exhibitor GC-heat Gebhard & Castiglia GmbH & Co KG gained a better understanding of the mould and die markets across Asia. “The fair has been great. It has helped us to form an impression of the market, especially regionally. We’ve made some interesting contacts with mould-makers and hot runner manufacturers, there are opportunities for engaging in business in the future,” said Mr Sven Gebhard, CEO and Partner.

Visitors attending the fair were equally satisfied. Regular attendee Mr Johnny Li, Mould Manager of Plastic Star Prototype Manufacturing Co Ltd, who considers the event too important to miss, said: “This has been the best edition yet for establishing contact with a higher proportion of mould-makers, it truly is a specialised and professional mould & die show. We’ve identified several potential business partners and suppliers already.”

“The range of manufacturers and products at the fair was impressive”, said Mr Tang, Chief of R & D Department of Guangzhou Boshi Medical Health Research Centre, who visited the fair for the first time to look for suppliers for their medical equipment manufacturing line. “We’ve made contact with a few good suppliers. This has been a very good sourcing platform for us,” added Mr Tang.

Mr Miguel Bares, Asia General Manager of Moldblade, a Spanish manufacturer and exporter of injection moulds with a factory in China was happy to see a wider range of exhibitors. “The mix of domestic suppliers was more diverse this year. It was good to see manufacturers from the likes of Ningbo, Taizhou and Qingdao at the fair.” Mr Bares had been visiting the fair for a third successive year to obtain the latest trends in mould-making. Whilst at the fair, he also met with old suppliers and established contact with new ones.

Mr Joe Liu, Business Manager of Xulong Enterprise came to the fair to broaden his supply network and was not disappointed. “As a producer of chargers and rechargeable batteries, I came here to find suppliers of small moulds. I’ve met with several potential suppleirs over the last few days and will be following these leads up when I get home.”

i-Moldshop and Hong Kong Gallery prove popular with visitors

The new i-Moldshop was a popular draw for visitors who wanted to know how the latest range of CAD/CAM systems, automation software, robots, digital CNC, EDM, CMM & pallet together with related production equipment could help facilitate and upgrade the mould & die manufacturing process. Over the fair period experts led a series of live demonstrations of automated mould-making processes which attracted large crowds.

Visitors were also seen heading to the Hong Kong Gallery, a new initiative by the Hong Kong Mould & Die Council.  With the theme “World Brands Made by Hong Kong’, exhibits on display  included packaging products, toys, automotive, precision components, optical products as well as home appliances along with the relevant moulds involved in the manufacturing processes.

The informative seminars held on mould & die technology and development were also well attended by visitors.

The next edition of Asiamould will take place at the Poly World Trade Centre Expo from 21 – 23 September 2011.
