Essar Steel has been awarded the ‘Platinum Award’, the highest award in the category by Caterpillar's 'Supplier Quality Excellence Program'.
Essar Steel had previously won the bronze award in 2008 followed by the Gold Award for two consecutive years in 2009 and 2010, it finally bagged the Platinum Award - the highest award in the category.
Caterpillar’s SQEP certification recognizes Essar Steel’s performance as a strategic supplier of steel plates globally to Caterpillar, for achieving the highest level of excellence. Essar Steel has been supplying steel plates to Caterpillar since 2001. The award also validates Essar Steel’s usage of 6 Sigma methodologies for continuous and sustainable improvements through the initiatives of Essar Manufacturing Excellence.

This is also reflection of the capability to Essar Steel to meet stringent quality standards of global leaders.”
Essar Steel has been approved to supply plates to all the manufacturing plants of caterpillar across the globe. Essar Steel has been supplying steel plates to caterpillar over a decade. With the setting up of 5 meter wide state of the art of plate mill, Essar Steel is now in a position to supply plates for high end applications.
Earlier in this year, Essar Steel won the Gold Award, in the large scale category, at the FICCI Quality System Excellence Awards 2011, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
