Rays of recovery - Turkish auto output in January up YoY

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association, in January 2010 Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 78,335 units increasing by 97% YoY but down by 17.43% over the month of December 2009.

In January, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 46,810 units up 96%, its commercial vehicle production reached 29,755 units up 99% while tractor production amounted to 1,770 units up 79% all compared to January 2009.

The significant increases on YoY basis in all segments of automotive production arose because of the base effect, as underlined by the OSD.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in January was 60% down from 73% recorded in December 2009.
