Leading manufacturer of shell cores and shell moulds San Enterprises has set up a new "Aluminium Die Casting" unit in Pimpri.

San Enterprises, which supplies aluminium cylinder heads to Tata Motors, has invested Rs 10 crore to set up this new unit that turned operational on Monday.

Tata Motors vice-president UK Mishra and general manager S S Bhasin inaugurated the plant. San Enterprises General Manager Anand Nawathe said after inauguration, "The newly set unit will use gas as a medium to melt the metal. This would reduce pollution drastically and also help derive enhanced quality of molten metal. The heat treatment facility has also been installed at the new plant".

Commenting on the future plans, Nawathe said, "We have chalked out a definite plan for forward integration, under which the company is now planning to start the machining activity. The company will soon undertake exports of aluminum castings like cylinder heads and crank cases to USA".

San Enterprises currently employs over 100 staffers and is expected to double the headcount by the end of 2008.
