According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, the European new car sales in April 2009 dropped to 1.25 million cars from last April's 1.43 million cars down by 12% The report said that in January to April 2009 European new car sales dropped by 16% to 4.69 million. It added that specifically, car sales in UK and Eastern EU declined by 24% by 21% respectively and the decreasing figure is double of that for western EU countries. Meanwhile, Spain’s new car sales dropped significantly by 46%.
