A Willenhall diecasting business, which has grown from employing a handful of people to 85 in 13 years, has just won new orders worth £2 million for the current financial year.
Managing director of Midland Pressure Diecasting, Ash Suman, said his company was looking to take on nine to 12 new staff this year to meet growing demand.
Willenhall-born Mr Suman, who himself served an apprenticeship in a foundry, is also planning to take on three apprentices at the company, based at Ashmore Lake Business Park in Ashmore Lake Way, in September.
He started the business in 2000 producing diecastings in zinc and aluminium alloys in a 4,000 sq ft unit in Ezekiel Lane, Willenhall, with his wife and brother. It now operates from three freehold sites totalling 100,000 sq ft and has grown to have an annual turnover of just under £7 million.
The company which specialises in aluminium and zinc pressure diecasting won the Black Country Chamber of Commerce manufacturer of the year award in both 2011 and 2012.
Mr Suman said that the experience of growing through a recession had been “intense and tough” and said that MPD was now looking to take on people in management roles.
The other positions to be filled include toolmakers, CNC programmers, diecasters , foundry technicians and engineers.
Over the last four years £3 million has been invested in equipment and property including buying the assets of diecasting companies in Malton, Yorkshire, and Hayes in Middlesex.
Last year Mr Suman also bought the assets of toolmaking company RJ Clark Engineering in Dudley and took on its whole workforce at Willenhall.
Recent exhibitions that MPD has taken part in has helped it win new orders which need to be met from the start of July.
“We have put in place an expansion plan to meet the growing orders. Now we need the new people to service those orders,” Mr Suman added.
The company now runs a 24-hour operation and through an ongoing expansion programme the company is looking to offer more services to its customers.

It is now an ISO 9001 approved company and through its ongoing expansion programme the company is looking to offer more services and value to its customers.
There has been an influx of orders from blue-chip companies and much interest from foreign markets.
Recruitment is one of the key areas of the current expansion programme with the company looking to take on local skilled people to add to their experienced and dedicated employees.
The acquisition of RJ Clark Engineering, a third generation family owned toolmakers, and its skills and services have been an important addition to the manufacturing facility in Willenhall.
It is enabling MPD to offer services to companies who are interested in tool design and manufacture as well as CNC machining services.
Since the acquisition many UK and overseas companies have had tooling commissioned and manufactured at MPD.
