Itar-Tass reported that the Gorky car factory re-started the assembly line recently, stopped on February 25th and workers received usual wages for the two weeks of forced leaves. According to the press service “Expenses on the labor remuneration fund will not be cut down.”

The GAZ management carried out routine repairs of equipment, measures on standardization of workplaces and optimization of technological flows during the idle time of all production facilities. The press service specified that “This will help to cut down expenses, to decrease volumes of work backlog and to raise efficiency of technological processes.” The Gorgy car factory intends to fulfill the production program of March 2009 over a shorter period between March 10th and 31st. Incidentally, production program will be larger than in January and February. The implementation of the monthly program in a shorter period of time and at a more intensive pace will give a chance to slash consumption of energy resources and to decrease the volume of the backlog.

The press service noted that “The factory’s flexible production program will help to save RUB 200 million in March.” According to Governor Mr Valery Shantsev “the Gorky car factory works under difficult conditions. The enterprise will work 20 days in March, but the output of motor vehicles will be twice as high as in January to February. “There is an order for the entire volume of motor vehicles in March.”
