The World Foundry Organization was delighted to have hosted the 1st World Foundry Summit in Rome, Italy, on November 8th and 9th.

This invitation-only event, focused primarily on the presence of owners and CEO's of foundry businesses -  both casting producers and suppliers - was a great opportunity to meet, network, and learn. Participants included 106 delegates from 17 countries, with foundries in the USA and Turkey being well represented. German and Italian attendance at the first World Foundry Summit was modest -- unfortunate, considering the importance of the exchange of ideas and solutions to common threats and challenges, presented by various economic, political and technological changes, between leaders from different continents.

It is on this type of exchange that industry leaders, associations and institutes should focus. It is paramount at events such as this summit and paramount to the future of the industry.

The event saw world renowned and highly respected speakers making presentations on key topics of interst to the global castings sector, talking on strategy and policy in areas of energy, management and economics.

The event was an excellent opportunity to be at the year's foundry strategy epicenter, where CEO's and foundry owners met with like-minded people and the top executives of the industry stakeholders. In a survey at the Summit's conclusion, 90% of participants supported the World Foundry Summit taking place again in the future.
