Zum 52.ten Mal fand in diesem Jahr vom 12. bis 14. September die internationale Konferenz der slowenischen Gießereiindustrie direkt an der Adria in Portoroz statt.

Rund 200 Teilnehmer aus 15 verschiedenen Ländern wie Deutschland, Indien, Großbritannien und Italien nahmen Teil. Da sich in diesem Jahr mehrere Veranstaltungen terminlich überschnitten, spricht diese Teilnehmerzahl für dieses Event.

Als eine der wenigen Veranstaltungen dieser Art in Europa wurden die neun Plenarvorträge und 24 Vorträge getrennt nach den Sektionen „Cast Iron and Casting Technology“ und „Non-Ferrous Alloys“ für die Zuhörer in Englisch gehalten und zusätzlich vollständig in schriftlicher Form allen Teilnehmern zur Verfügung gestellt. Die englische Sprache ist sicher, neben der ansprechenden Location, einer der Gründe für die Internationalität dieser Veranstaltung.

Der Donnerstagabend wurde wie in jedem Jahr zur Kontaktpflege und dem fachlichen Austausch auf zwei Booten entlang der slowenischen Küste genutzt. Das wechselhafte Wetter sorgte hier für einen regen Austausch in den geschlossenen Räumen der Schiffe. Das bewölkte Wetter war auch der Grund, weshalb der anschließende Abend mit Showeinlage nicht wie üblich auf der Terrasse oberhalb des Casinos „Riviera“ stattfand, sondern im GrandHotel. Denn normalerweise hat diese Veranstaltung schon fast eine Schönwetter-Garantie.

2013 findet die Tagung vom 11. bis 13. September statt.
