Reading time: min

The keystone of the oncoming METEF exhibition, to be held in Verona on June 11th to 13th 2014, is innovation in terms of materials, technologies, machinery and equipment made to measure for the industrial users (and as a consequence exported all over the world), and the exhibiting companies are top-tier suppliers in their reference sectors. The new Alumotive area will unveil new products and innovative solutions of original equipment manufacturers destined to cars, commercial and industrial vehicles, agricultural and earth-handling machines, trains and underground trains.

Verona, February 2014 – METEF is fast approaching and a few months before the show, attendance data and expectations are very positive. Three quarters of the exhibition ground has already been booked and this result derives from very effective initiatives aimed at developing the exhibition internationalization as much as possible. Delegations comprising of decision makers, designers and purchase managers from Turkey, Serbia, Balkan countries, Switzerland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, South America, Ukraine, Poland, the USA, Mexico, Korea, Sweden, Iran, Iraq; Germany, Russia and the former Russian provinces will be attending the show.

Focus on the relationship with the Gulf countries is another major topic. The Gulf region is a steadily developing area in primary metallurgical production and downstream processing which offers interesting opportunities of technological and trading exchange.

Internationalisation is the key factor at METEF 2014, and Veronafiere, with its network of delegates in 60 countries worldwide, proposes a B2B Trade Matching service where the exhibitors will meet the most qualified buyers accredited by the exhibition.

During METEF three-day show, the visitors will be offered several interesting events such as the third INNOVATION AWARD for the exhibiting companies and the brand new SAVE THE WEIGHT initiative for the promotion of excellent cases contributing to vehicle lightweight. Moreover, the STACAST European project dedicated to new quality and design standards for aluminium alloy castings, a seminar on semisolid moulding organized by AIM–The Italian Metallurgy Association, the traditional EXTRUSION FORUM that will offer a survey of the sector’s different aspects thanks to market analyses in the major areas worldwide, the special event THE ALUMINIUM INDUSTRY IN THE GULF AND ITS IMPACT ON THE EU MARKET.  Also in program, the high level AUTOMOTIVE CONFERENCE organized by ANFIA - the Italian Association of the Automotive Industry and ASSOFOND - Italian Foundries' Association and the F.A.R.O. event (organized by Kauffmann & Sons) aiming at creating updating and networking chances, and a relaxing moment outdoors with the METEF&GOLF tournament.

The brand new initiative SAVE THE WEIGHT aims at promoting excellent cases that contribute to the vehicle lightweight. This initiative is promoted in association with the Cluster for Lightweight Design (Leichtbau-Cluster, LC), a network of companies, research institutes and service providers dedicated to assist and promote cross-industrial cooperation in the field of lightweight design. So far, the following companies have confirmed their support: Buhler AG Diecasting Machinery, Aluminium Rheinfelden, Gruppo CLN, Cromodora Wheels, Zanardi Fonderie, Castool Tooling & Systems, Cluster Lombardo Mobilità.

Alumotive’s key role as innovative event, for the first year having a strategic importance within METEF, is strengthened and magnified by major partnerships.

Established with the aim to promote, manage, develop and support R&D, Kilometro Rosso is from this year one of Alumotive’s cultural partners. It holds one of the top 10 places in excellence for innovation in Italy according to Census report released in 2009 and it is accredited as a Centre for Research and Technological Transfer-CRTT by the Region Lombardy and, as such, can issue technological vouchers. Voted by over 500 enterprises, Kilometro Rosso stands among the nine winners of the National Work Award in the category “Institutions” for the innovative contribution given to research and science. Kilometro Rosso is no doubt one of the excellence poles contributing to the success of Made-in-Italy products.

Another major novelty is the participation of MaTech, a consulting activity on new materials of the Galileo Science and Technological Park that has long been carrying out a scouting and technological transfer activity in the new materials international market. Alumotive will be to Matech an ideal chance to display, communicate and transfer the most innovative knowledge that this sector offers to the entire production system. The collaboration between METEF and MaTech aims at promoting knowledge on new materials and technologies and fostering favourable conditions to create chances of innovation for the manufacturing enterprises in this sector.

For over 25 years CERMET has been developing and supplying services to support corporate value. It has now joined the Kiwa Group – consolidated international organization whose main activity is highly qualified certification, inspection, testing and training – and has changed  its corporate name into KIWA CERMET ITALIA. Benefiting from this experience, at Metef KIWA CERMET ITALIA will put on display its cultural skills, especially within the crucial field of the management of the supply chain technical quality, also including the environmental quality of products and processes. KIWA CERMET ITALIA works to let the value of single companies, chains and enterprise networks emerge.

Alumotive is to KIWA CERMET ITALIA a new chance to discuss with the enterprises on the crucial role of value added services in promoting the relationships between buyers and supply chains and to establish systems that expand business chances while reducing risks.

Another special guest to Alumotive is Iveco - brand by CNH Industrial N.V., global leader in capital goods listed at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: CNHI) and on the Mercato Telematico Azionario (the Italian screen-based market), organized and managed by Borsa Italiana (MI: CNHI). Iveco designs, manufactures and sells a wide range of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles for road and off-road use, urban and inter-city buses and specialty vehicles for emergencies such as fires, off-road missions, defence and civil protection. With a workforce of over 26,000 people, Iveco produces vehicle featuring cutting-edge technology in 11 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania and Latin America. Some 5,000 dealers in over 160 countries offer technical support wherever an Iveco vehicle is at work.

One of the latest Golden Sponsors to the show is  TIBERINA, an industrial group with a €500-million aggregate turnover and featuring an automotive and a off-highway division. Based in Umbertide (Perugia), the group has 2300 employees working at 2 Technical Centres (in Italy and Germany) and 16 production facilities (Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina). The company’s recognized leadership in innovative applications in terms of product/process and World Class Manufacturing is the key factor to success with OEMs such as Fiat Chrysler, Maserati, Ferrari, Daimler Mecedes, BMW, VW Group. A major part of the corporate investment plan under way is dedicated to R&D in the application of new technologies and innovative materials for vehicle lightweight.
