The next NEWCAST with the new NEWPART Innovation Park for castings, forgings and sintered parts will be held from 23 to 25 June 2009 in Düsseldorf. Experts from all over the world will present the latest developments in the area of precision cast parts and products. In this connection, for the second time, the Federal Association of the German Foundry Industry (Bundesverband der Deutschen Gießerei-Industrie - BDG) in cooperation with the Association of German Foundrymen (Verein Deutscher Gießereifachleute e.V.  - VDG) and Messe Düsseldorf are staging the International NEWCAST Award presented in recognition of particularly innovative cast products. The focus of attention is cast products, which outstandingly demonstrate the advantages of cast components in competition with other manufacturing processes. The Award is presented in three categories: the cast part with best functional integration, the best substitution of another production process and for the best casting technology solution through the expansion of casting technology limits.

The jury, which views and assesses all the cast parts submitted, consists of experts from the BDG “Design with Castings” (“Konstruieren in Guss“) Specialist Committee. A further project partner of the NEWCAST Award is the European Committee of Manufacturers of Materials and Products for Foundries (CEMAFON). On an international level the Award is also supported by the European Foundry Association CAEF and World Foundrymen Organization (WFO).

The application period for the sought-after International NEWCAST Award is now open until 22 May 2009. All exhibitors at NEWCAST 2009 are eligible for participation. They can register for the competition with up to three cast parts from the areas of vehicle manufacturing, mechanical engineering, construction as well as electronics/electrical engineering. The only prerequisite: the products submitted must be shown during NEWCAST 2009. The terms and conditions of participation along with the registration form can be downloaded on the NEWCAST website at <link http: www.newcast.de _blank external-link-new-window>www.newcast.de.

The announcement of the winners will already be made in the run-up to NEWCAST, so that a corresponding presentation of the prize-winning exhibits can be prepared by the exhibitors and supported with marketing measures. The official prize presentation will be held on 24 June 2009 within the framework of NEWCAST 2009 at the Messe Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.

About NEWCAST 2009

After two very successful events, NEWCAST – International Trade Fair for Precision Castings, Forgings and Sintered Parts – is continuing its success story. Influenced by the current developments in the market and the desire expressed by many exhibitors for a shorter fair rotation, the next NEWCAST will already be opening its doors in Düsseldorf from 23 to 25 June 2009. A new feature in combination with NEWCAST is the NEWPART Innovation Park for castings, forgings and sintered parts along with the Metals Plaza, a forum for the raw materials and metals trade as well as logistics and pre-processing sectors, which is moving from METEC to NEWCAST. The popular, informative support programme will be concentrated in the 4th NEWCAST Forum with fair-supporting seminars and congresses.
