Bruch investing in the Dortmund site
The Bruch Group, a family-run company in the fourth generation with three production plants in Germany, is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of aluminium casting alloys. The current annual production volume totals around 100,000 tonnes, more than 85% of which is delivered in liquid form to customers throughout Europe.
In a first step, around EUR 4.0 million are to be invested in Dortmund for a new state-of-the-art melting plant and related holding furnaces – pending the approval of the State Environment Agency in Hagen. This melting plant will replace an older melting furnace. Commissioning is scheduled for the 1st quarter of 2007.
This will enable the circle of customers that has until now been limited to foundries for castings (from door handles to engine blocks) to be extended to include rolling mills and forging plants for the use of wrought aluminium alloys (for the production of strips, sheets and sections).
As a next step, an additional modified and energy-optimised replacement melting plant with two holding furnaces is planned, also during the course of 2007. The investment costs for this plant total around EUR 6.0 million, so that in all roughly EUR 10.0 million will have been invested in Dortmund by the end of 2007.
