Reading time: min

- Triple record: more visitors, more exhibitors, more space
- Sector starts 2014 optimistically
- Die casting competence of NürnbergMesse international too

EUROGUSS in Nürnberg closed on 16 January with a triple record: over 11,000 trade visitors (2012: 8,415), a good 30 per cent of them international, came to the 470 exhibitors (2012: 383). In short, the tenth anniversary of the International Trade Fair for Die Casting – Technology, Processes and Products was a complete success!

Gerd Röders, Chairman of the Verband Deutscher Druckgießereien (VDD - Association of German Die Casting Foundries), is amazed by the impressive show of products: “The entire world of European die casting technology comes to EUROGUSS and this could be felt everywhere: the sector is clearly growing.” This was also reflected by the broad and attractive range of products and services for the die casting value chain.

Die casting foundries, component suppliers and scientific institutions presented die castings, materials, furnaces, die casting machines, moulds, processes for finishing treatment, quality control and the latest findings from research & development. Dr. Timo Würz, General Secretary of CEMAFON, The European Foundry Equipment Suppliers Association, is also enthusiastic: “Our already positive expectations have been exceeded even! The economic mood we have experienced at the exhibition makes us confident for 2014 and beyond.”

The top-class visitors either come from die casting foundries themselves or from branches of industry that use die cast products. This is mainly the automotive industry, which uses over three-quarters of European production of die castings.Machinery and plant construction, the electrical and electronic industry and innovative branches of industry like energy and medical technology are also major customers for die cast parts.

Heike Slotta, Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse, sums up: “We are more than satisfied with this year’s EUROGUSS! The great rush of visitors and the high degree of international involvement  in terms of both exhibitors and visitors  speak for themselves. I personally would therefore like to say a big thank you to our exhibitors for their commitment.”
