On April 15, FON-SKB, a Polish family-run company, held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony its new state-of-the-art iron foundry in Radomsko, Poland. Held directly in the production hall, the Deputy Prime Minister took part in the ceremony along with the 160 invited guests, customers, representatives of the local authorities, universities as well as business and project partners.
The newly opened foundry in Radomsko is one of the most modern cast and ductile iron foundries in Europe with an automatic coring and moulding line producing castings up to 2000 mm long. The idea of strategic reorientation of the plant was established in 2013. This resulted in investements amounting to over 11 million euro. It will generate up to 100 jobs in the plant and co-operating companies. The unique parameters of the foundry are: automatic moulding line with maximum mould dimensions of 2200x1400x550/550 mm and three-stage moulding sand reclamation system. FON-SKB specializes in comprehesive „project-to-product” solutions in scope of drive transmission components, iron castings and metal machining.
At the ceremony, Sławomir Dobosz – the owner of the plant greeted numerous representatives from a sphere of politics and business, customers and project partners. "The investement will give us the range of global opportunities of entering into new markets not only for automotive, but also shipbuilding, airplane, gas as well as petrochemical industry”, said Mr. Dobosz in his speech.
"We will strengthen our capacity to produce our final product, drive transmission components. We are the only company in Poland specializing in production of its kind”, Mr. Dobosz emhasized. OMEGA Foundry Machinery Ltd. was highlighted at the launch ceremony as key project partner who provided modern technology and production line.
The attendees were given a tour of the foundry to observe the sophisticated operations based on advanced technology. Participants used the opportunity to view the unique of a European scale machine - AutoCloser in use.
