FOUNDRY, THE VALUE OF INFORMATION

Metef-Foundeq and Foundry-Planet, new editorial synergy

Reading time: min

A publishing activity conceived to drive and complement that other initiative focused on the creation of Metef many years ago has found in the world of metals and associated technologies its field of choice and specialisation. In 2012 Metef-Foundeq, the international expo dedicated to the world of aluminium and machinery for metalworking was held at the VeronaFiere.

Attending foreign companies to the ninth edition of the event grew by 5%, accounting for 30% of the 15,000 total visitors. More than 500 exhibiting companies, 37% of them coming from 28 foreign countries, more than 15,000 sq.m exhibition area distributed over 4 pavilions, scores of technical conferences and business meetings that serve as an excellent educational and cultural setting: a true success in which foundry plays a leading role (as it has traditionally done).

A natural consequence of the fact that 3% of the world’s casting production is linked to Italy. Pushed by the current economic situation it is more urgent than ever to improve competitiveness of the ‘Made in Italy’. Working as a system and betting on quality and innovation appear to be strategies to implement, without sparing any efforts. And it is evident how useful and beneficial specific, correct data can be for the industry in order to identify a common language. In line with this premise is the significant  synergy with the German online edition of Foundry Planet which has recently decided to combine resources with Diecasting & Foundry Techniques.

For many years, this journal has addressed the foundry world devoting considerable space to the manufacturers of machinery and systems, equipment, accessories, materials and products for foundry and to the main benchmark events. Diecasting & Foundry Techniques and Foundry Planet share both mission and users, reaching a wider audience of professional operators with specialised contents, The unfailing commitment to relations with international reference bodies and associations strengthens and complements the information role targeted at common areas of reference, with ample space to manufacturers of machinery and systems, equipment, accessories, materials and products for foundry.

A constant reference to final users is very important, with the automotive and naval-aviation world in the front line, but without excluding other sectors. Mission already accomplished by Metef-Foundeq, especially for such a strategic sector as the foundry: internationalisation and opening to new markets. If in the last edition of the Fair the work of its own network of overseas reps brought to the complex over 400 official representatives from 22 countries, including Germany, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, South Africa, Iran, Ukraine, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, China and India, the number of readers reached by the information channel
