The company Fritz Winter Eisengiesserei GmbH & Co. KG will invest more than 100 million € in the first phase of the new construction of a foundry and mechanical machining plant in Franklin, Kentucky in the coming years. After completion, the first phase of the new plant will dispose of an annual capacity of more than 60.000 tons and employ more than 200 persons on an area of approximately 25.000 square meters. A later expansion is already intended in the plans of the company from Stadtallendorf.
“The installation of our new plant in Franklin is an important milestone in our globalisation strategy. says Jörg Rumikewitz, CEO of Fritz Winter. “The central position in the East of the USA and with this the proximity to our customers, the availability of highly skilled workers and the excellent infrastructure on site were deciding for the choice of Franklin, Kentucky as our new US headquarters”.
“With this step we continue to strengthen our position on one of the most important automotive markets in the world.” adds Henning Knipper, Head of Corporate Development at Fritz Winter. “The fact that we have already received two orders from well-known Premium-manufacturers for the new plant shows that also our customers are convinced of this strategy.”
Start of construction in Franklin will be beginning of the year to come. The completion will be in the course of the year 2017.
