Reading time: min

Gamesa has set up an Indian subsidiary, Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt Ltd, near Chennai, India, to produce the Gamesa G58-850 kW Wind Turbine.
The wind turbine facility has an initial production capacity of 200 MW per year and will employ more than 100 people. Gamesa has contracts in India and neighbouring countries for a total power output of 60 MW.

The wind turbine facility is the result of a strategic wager placed by Gamesa to establish itself industrially in markets having high-growth potential and to achieve greater production capacity at more competitive conditions, the company says.

Gamesa already has a wind turbine operation in China with a production capacity of 1 GW per year.
