GER - Exhibitors say visitors to local German show provide quality over quantity

The small Bavarian city of Augsburg may lack the gravitas of other major venues, but companies who brought wares to the wfb fair for tool and mould makers expressed their pleasure with the turnout.

Around 130 exhibitors set up stands for the two-day event, and many saw the fair as a chance to expand their business in southern Germany, a regional tool and mould making mecca and home to automotive powerhouses Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche and BMW. One exhibitor, Heller Maschinenfabrik, used the show to help forge inroads into a new business area. The company, whose machining centres are well known in the automotive industry, bought the single largest amount of floor space at wfb to display its commitment to tool and mould making (see Heller report). A number of cutting tool manufacturers who have made their names in softer materials like plastics were also on hand to present mills and drills for tool and mould metals.
