GER - Georg Fischer bundles its IT infrastructure at T-Systems

Reading time: min

Georg Fischer has commissioned T-Systems to bundle the Corporation's worldwide IT infrastructure. To create this bundle, T-Systems, the corporate customer arm of Deutsche Telekom, will merge a large part of the IT infrastructure of the three Corporate Groups GF Piping Systems, GF Automotive and GF AgieCharmilles in the newly created Corporate IT of Georg Fischer.

The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary will transfer various computer centers, the SAP systems and other business applications of Georg Fischer to the computer center in Munich, Germany. The three Corporate Groups will retain management of their business-specific IT applications.

In future, Georg Fischer will employ cloud computing, which it will pay for in accordance with the actual use of network, computing and storage services. In this way, the required resources can be adjusted more readily to the usual seasonal fluctuations in the global business.

In future, more than 6,000 GF employees worldwide will be able to securely access corporate applications from standardized terminals. By concentrating its global IT infrastructure at a central computer center, Georg Fischer is aiming for across-the-board integration, efficient and transparent cost structures, and a future-enabled platform for business processes. The agreement with T-Systems runs for five and a half years. Implementation will last until the end of 2013.
