At a board meeting of the German Federation Foundry Industry (BDG), Gerhard Eder was elected the new President of the BDG on the 20th of March. His career began in 1964 with an apprenticeship in mechanics at MAN AG in Hamburg followed by work completed in ship diesel construction. Mr. Eder obtained his education as a mechanical engineering technician at the School of Engineering in Hamburg in 1971 and set about his career path as a Sales Manager for release agents in cast and forging products, followed by intensive consulting and leadership duties. He was the General Manager of "Production and Sales" for sand, mould and aluminium die casting, the Director of "Production and Sales" for light metal cast manufacturing and has been the CEO and Director of Andreas Stihl AG Co. KG in Prüm-Weinsheim since 1994.
