Producing standard steel and prompt deliveries to customers play an important role in attracting more customers, Iran Daily reported.
Exports of alloy steel reached 20,000 tons in the year to March 2007, an official said adding that the figure is expected to increase to 35,000 tons this year.
Underlining the important role of steel in a country?s industrial development, Hokmollah Babaei, managing director of Iran Alloy Steel Company told ISNA on Monday, ?By implementing the development projects of Iran Alloy Steel Co. with a $30 mln investment, the production capacity of this factory will reach 1.1 mln tons by the end of the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan (2005-2010).?
To attain this target, 800,000 tons of sponge iron and 400,000 tons of iron scrap will be required, he noted.
Producing standard steel and prompt deliveries to customers play an important role in attracting more customers and influencing the price of products.
Babaei also unveiled one of the development projects, currently underway, called the ?650-ton Yazd (1) Project? at an investment of $78 mln.
With products that complement each other, currently Yazd, Esfarayen and Isfahan alloy steel factories with production capacities of 200,000 tons, 80,000 tons and 30,000 tons per year respectively are considered active, Babaei continued.
?The country has the means to produce alloy steel structures of 1.5 meters in diameter,? he noted.
Pointing to the inauguration of the ?productiveness and strategic planning spool? in Iran Alloy Steel factory, Babaei said the complete implementation of these plans will lead to improved status in the global market.
?In next three years we will experience a leap in our exports,? he added.
The factory currently supplies the demands of 130 spare-part-manufacturing companies as well as 90% of the domestic car industry, said the official.
In the next 30 months, projects will be implemented to manufacture special parts required for the oil industry and steel products using the blacksmithing method, Babaei said.
?We are planning to produce alloy pipes for 200 oil wells that will be drilled annually according to plans.
?We do not produce alloy pipes at present, therefore, the needs of the oil industry have to be met from imports. A suitable political situation can pave the way for domestic production of alloy pipes.?
The output of Yazd Alloy Steel Company is used to manufacture some spare parts for automobiles including Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Citroen and Peugeot.
?Recently some samples have been sent to Italy and in case we gain their approval, Italy will be added to the list of countries to which we export our products,? he said.
Babaei added that 39% of Iran Alloy Steel Co. shares will be offered as Justice Shares.
The value added of alloy steel is higher than other types of steel.
