Japanese January auto output down by 9%

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Japanese automobile production in January this year totaled 754,054 units, decreasing by 83,138 units or 9.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. January was the fifth consecutive month in which a year on year decrease was registered in Japan's automobile output.

Domestic sales in January this year in Japan stood at 383,499 vehicles, down 7.8% as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in January amounted to 345,554 units, down by 34,741 units or 9.1% year on year, constituting the sixth consecutive month of year on year decrease.

The revenue generated by these exports amounted to USD 11.17 billion, including USD 8.12 billion for vehicles and USD 3.05 billion for parts. This is a decrease of USD 385.82 million or 3.3% as compared with USD 11.5 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
