Jöst GmbH - A vibrating heavyweight

Reading time: min

JÖST built a one-piece shake-out grid of the type AWF 3500x5800 with almost 40 tons of vibrating mass for an Italian customer. The maximum deck load for this vibration machine is up to 60 tons; the machine - a genuine heavyweight - is used for unmoulding large castings, manufactured in the furan sand process.

This machine replaces a shake-out from the year 1994, which became too small for the new mould dimensions. The new shake out was designed in such a way that no additional change (foundation work) had to be done, although the shakeout screen surface was enlarged.

Thus the support points and the drive unit location were taken over. The screen deck surface had to be enlarged without increasing the weight of the machine. This was achieved by reengineering the steel body structure with the target to direct the dynamic exciter forces in a direct straight vertical way up to the deck surface. The shake out surface is bolted in several sections between the knocking bars for the molding box. Here it succeeded to optimize also the distance between shake out surface and molding box, in order to improve the sand discharge flow characteristics.
