Reading time: min

Talgo will supply Kazakhstan public railway operator PP (Passazhirskie Perevozki), a branch of railway administration KTZ, with 603 passenger cars (21 trains) for long-distance services all over the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Talgo and its joint venture Tulpar-Talgo will be responsible for the order, which is worth 482 million euros. The manufacture of the cars is to be shared between Spain (Talgo’s factories at Rivabellosa in Alava and Las Matas in Madrid) and Kazakhstan, with a gradual activity transfer to their site in Astana.

The vehicles supplied by Talgo to Kazakhstan are state-of-the-art wide-body railcars that will reach 200 km/h and have been specially designed for extreme climatic conditions (-50ºC), apart from meeting other specific requirements by Kazakhstan. Likewise, the vehicles are compliant with the latest regulations currently being developed for Customs Union of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
