Reading time: min

New business growth in Russia is enabling Kiekert to expand into Eastern Europe. Kiekert is commencing production in Tatarstan with contracts from Russian and international vehicle manufacturers.

The global market leader in locking systems is moving into Russia. Kiekert's first Russian plant is to be built close to Naberezhnye Chelny in the Russian Federal Republic of Tatarstan. The first Kiekert products to be made in Russia are scheduled to start rolling off the line as soon as the end of 2013.

Kiekert succeeded in securing a solid contractual volume over the coming years for the Russian vehicle market. The company already has substantial exports to Russia, covering not only its multi-national OEM customers, but also established Russian vehicle manufacturers.

Kiekert is starting with a production facility in Russia that is designed for growth. Successive expansion in parallel with business development is envisaged over the years to come.

The Russian automotive market is growing continuously, as is the number of vehicle plants in Russia. Kiekert considers itself to have an extremely good chance of securing a significant share of the Russian market within just a few years. CEO Dr. Karl Krause said, "The new plant is an important strategic step in securing our position as world market leader in locking systems on a sustainable basis."
