Innovative component design and process technology as the key to success

7th - 8th November 2017 in Hanover

After the successful jubilee issue last year, the “Leichtbau in Guss 2017” will take place for the 11th time. This time the organizer Hanser Verlag invites the participants to Hanover, where a visit to the VW foundry takes place.

The conference on 7th and 8th November 2017 is entitled "Innovative component design and process technology as the key to success" and deals with these areas:

• Opportunities and limits of wall thickness reduction
• Process technology and management
• Structural and hybrid construction

The concept of lightweight construction has always been an integral part of German engineering. In order to permanently consolidate production at the high-wage location in Germany, the existing process limits have to be continually expanded and the technology advancement has to be secured and expanded through new processes. Current challenges in foundry technology are complex components with low wall thicknesses. The workshop would like to illuminate various processes and provide an insight into the opportunities and limitations of wall thickness reduction as well as to stimulate discussions about this trend. Both in assembly and in production, there are increasingly different types of materials, which demands new approaches to joining technology or requires an integral material composite construction of a wide variety of materials. An innovative component design and process technology is required, which is the key to success.

The leading companies include BMW Group, Frankenguss GmbH & Co. KG, GF Automotive, TRIMET Automotive Holding GmbH and VW AG.
